The Earth Spins
President Leland McCauley is interviewed by Trudy Trusoe on various issues:
- He dismisses Robotica as a threat, saying that they and the United Planets will learn about each other slowly, but they were very remote and "most certainly not a threat" - set against a picture of Star Boy and XS fighting against the destruction of Xanthu by Robotica.
- He says the group which stole a Footstep Drive ship are "extremists" whose beliefs "conflict with our basic tenets of moral civilisation" - set against a picture of the Subterfuge Squad, who stole the ship - will be "contained"
- He then claims that the Oversight Watch had just returned from "delicate negotiations" on the "trade worlds of Farrion" - set against a picture of the Watch (sans M'Onel) threatening and killing green-skinned aliens.
- Finally, in response to a question on the absence of the Lost Legionnaires from the public eye since their return, and whether they would return to active duty; he mouths platitudes, then says they were returning home, and probably wouldn't be seen for some time, but were safe and well - set against the actuality of them running for their lives.
He ends by saying the UP "is in great shape" and that, whatever happened, they would be "ready to deal with it"...
- A footnote says "To Be Continued in The Legion #3"
Notes
- The issue, as its' name suggests, a generic guide to the DCU of the time. The Legion segment is four pages long, consisting of the "McCauley" interview and a one-page profile listing most of the team's (post-ZH) members to date. The art for this was also used extensively as promotional art, and can be seen above.
- Other profiles include ones for the Doom Patrol, Haven, Orpheus (the Batman ally), the Suicide Squad, and the Power Company. The lead story is a generic "tour of the DCU" story, and incorporates two mini-stories. There is also a, separate, short Batgirl sequence setting up the title character's rematch with Lady Shiva in Batgirl #25.
