I debated putting the timeline on a separate page, like it is for the Five Year Gap, but I wasn't sure what to call this page. Feel free to pick apart my methodology. I just thought the essential information is 1) the retcons and how this changed existing Legion history and 2) what actually happened after the Glorithverse reboot. This was all done without rereading the comics (yet). My next course of action is probably some basic page for the SW6 Batch. - Autochef 13:56, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- Technically, the "Glorithverse" didn't start until after the "Mordruverse" story in issue 5. The Five Year Gap took place after the end of the Magic Wars, which was still v3 (Post-Crisis). The first four issues of v4 as depicted are still part of the Post-Crisis timeline. What we found out later of the Five Year Gap was the post-Mordruverse version.
- Oh, and one other thing, we really need to put some sort of "v4" reference in here. Among the Legion fans I know, they all refer to the "Glorithverse" as simply "v4". Yes, I know that the post Zero Hour reboot keeps the same numbering, but "v4" refers to the time from the post Gap up to Zero Hour. -- mgrabois 20:09, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- Yeah, I didn't pick the "Glorithverse" name. I get the concept: Specifically the post-Mordruverse stories. But many fans lump the Gap, v4 1-4, Mordruverse, Legionnaires, and LSH 6-61 in one group and calls it "v4." That's what I always think of it. (v4 also equals TMK, TMK, or, er, MB?) If someone wants to move stuff -- any info about 1-3 and the Gap) around to fit the specific definition, I guess it's out of my hands. - Autochef 20:24, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- I'll be the first to admit this stuff isn't in my "comfort zone" - I know most of the post-ZH stuff very well indeed, but my knowledge is pretty sketchy elsewhen. But, for that precise reason, I *really* don't like calling the FYL period "v4", since 65 of the 126 (inc #0) issues of v4 are post-Zero Hour - which is, of course, more than half. I'll reserve comment on the rest just now. - Reboot (SoM) talk page 20:53, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- Just so you know, the original text on the main page under Glorithverse was "[Stuff about the retcons after the Superboy Edict - Valor, etc - and other stuff relating to the 5YL/Glorithverse "era", including v4 #1-5]". I worked under the assumption that this section of the site starts with #1. Although the Five Year Gap takes place chronologically before #1, I still think it should be lumped in with the Glorithverse stuff. I'm sure we can think up some clever language to make this clearer, and we can add something to the Post-Crisis page, whenever that's created, to make it clear that the 5YG (with very minor changes) took place before the Glorithverse reboot. We'll just overlap a little. What is a clear break temporally is not where the clean break is creatively. There's that five-issue gap that causes problems for classification. I do agree with Michael that we need to add some references to "v4" and "volume 4" if only because many fans associate those terms with this specific era. I've heard of "v4.5" before as a description of #0 and #62-125. If this means somewhere along the line we need a redirect, we can figure that part out. - Autochef 22:18, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- Like I said, technically the first four issues of v4 is post-Crisis/pre-Mordruverse. However, (a) the issues were written by the team that inaugurated the Glorithverse (post-Mordruverse), (b) they set up the storyline followed for the next few years, and (c) they are part of the 4th title to bear the name "Legion of Super-Heroes". Thus, the first four issues usually get lumped with the rest. Now, I don't think there's anything in those issues that was contradicted by the Mordruverse reboot (except the bit with Mon-el and the Time Trapper), so it's probably safe to say that these issues happened the same way pre/post Mordruverse. And the Gap happened off-screen and we never found anything about it in the first four issues, so there was both a pre-Mordruverse Gap and a post-Mordruverse Gap.
- Among Legion fans I know (and from being involved with online fandom since right around Zero Hour), when someone refers to a storyline as "v4", it invariably refers to the pre-Zero Hour (post-Mordruverse) timeline, not to the post-ZH (reboot) timeline, even though they're all part of the fourth volume. That includes anything that happened in that time frame, no matter where it appeared (Legionnaires, Superman's Time and Time Again arc, Mayfair 2995 book, etc.) My own personal preference for this time, by the way, is "v4", with "post-Mordruverse" coming in second.
- You can probably get a disambiguation page for "v4" to be either the page for the title "Legion of Super-Heroes (volume 4)" or for the Glorithverse era. --mgrabois 23:06, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
