The Collapse was the period that followed the [[Magic Wars]], which ended in mid-2989. The 30th century society relied on technology, so when technology failed, the economies of Earth and other United Planets worlds collapsed.  This galaxy-wide economic depression helped create a rift between the [[Legion of Super-Heroes]] and [[Earthgov]].
