Vs. System is the name of a collectible card game (CCG) produced by Upper Deck. Once or twice a year, a new set is released that focuses on a particular subset of characters in a shared comic universe (DC, Marvel, other publishers).
Contents
Description
Each card contains statistics to help the game player attack and defend against another player's deck of cards, each card either a character or a modification to another card's stats. The more powerful a card is, the rarer it is; there are three levels of card scarcity, namely Common, Uncommon, and Rare.
The sets contain all new artwork on the front. The back of each card is the generic "Vs. System" logo.
"Legion of Super-Heroes" (DLS) set
In December 2006 Upper Deck released the Legion of Super-Heroes deck, which was about half Legion-related characters and situations, and the other half related to the Teen Titans and Infinite Crisis. This Legion deck may be played with any other Vs. System deck regardless of publishing company of the characters. There were 220 cards in the Legion deck plus several promo cards and three "stacker" cards, each of which was available as a regular card as well as a foil chase card, making over 450 possible cards.
The "Legion of Super-Heroes" set contains numerous sub-sets, including Legionnaires, Plot Twists, Equipment, Locations, Future Foes, Darkseid's Elite, Teen Titans and Crisis. Each card is a member of one or two subsets. Future Foes are Legion villains, while Darkseid's Elite is comprised of variations on Darkseid, his Dark Servants from the Great Darkness Saga and Foundations storylines, and various Fourth World characters. Many cards are related to the Teen Titans (additions and changes since the last Titans set), the ending to the Infinite Crisis storyline, and the various characters and groups who have been introduced or changed in recent years.
Cards are designated with "DLS" by the card number to distinguish which Vs. System set the card came from ("DC Legion of Super-Heroes").
"World's Finest" (DWF) set
The "World's Finest" set contains cards related to the Superman and Batman "families" of heroes, villains, and supporting characters. The set also contains several Legion-related cards left over from the Legion (DLS) set.
Legion Cards
This list contains Legion-related cards from all sets, including characters, situations, and scenes from a Legion comic (for example, Darkseid and his minions, or Ra's al Ghul) regardless of whether a Legionnaire appears on it. Additional information on rarity and character version are included here for clarity.

"Legion of Super-Heroes" set
At sneak preview tournaments held the weekend of Dec. 2-3, 2006, two promotional cards were issued for Brainiac 5.1 (DLS-004) and XS (DLS-029). These can be distinguished by the "extended artwork" on the card, and thus they are known as "EA" cards. Other tournaments since then have provided additional EA cards (New Recruits, DLS-039; Dark Matter Drain, DLS-119; Need for Speed, DLS-188).
A three-card subset of Live Wire (DLS-015), Saturn Girl (DLS-018), and Cosmic Boy (DLS-007) features a different border scheme than the rest of the cards. These cards have a special border that allows them to be placed side-by-side in a triptych, and are known as "Stacker" cards (denoted by ST in this table) and are included randomly in packs.
The empty box and two versions of the card pack wrappers contain images of Legionnaires. The card packs feature art reprinted from the Live Wire (DLS-015) and Cosmic Boy (DLS-007) cards. Inside the box is a folded card the size of two regular cards side-by-side with rule change information, with art from the Element Lad (DLS-009) card. The art for the box itself is new and was painted by Kevin Nowlan.
Also at the preview tournaments, a special playmat with art from the Fatal Five Hundred card (DLS-078), a T-shirt with art from the Mon-El <> Valor card (DLS-016), and a deck box with art from the Connor Kent <> Superboy (DLS-136) and the Kara Zor-El <> Supergirl (DLS-012) were awarded.
