Working on a new table format for these sorts of lists. You can see it in Reboot (Post-ZH) green on List of first appearances/Reboot, and here it is in Preboot (Pre-Crisis) red. Any thoughts? - Reboot (SoM) talk page 16:53, 20 November 2012 (MST)

Definitely looks better than the standard boring table format - I'll start switching over to it. I also need to start incorporating the usage of footnotes, as you have done on the Reboot version of the page. I do have a couple of minor suggestions for the format itself, but I'm not really attached to these, and will be using your design regardless.
  1. Would prefer that the names in the far left column be flush left rather than centered
  2. Would prefer that the far left column be as narrow as possible, in order to give more space to the text in the data columns. The "a.k.a. Triplicate Girl, etc" is the main culprit, which I'll play with. The smaller text helps.
  3. Would prefer that the column headers be white text against the red background rather than use the era-specific coloring - would just be easier to read.
  4. If we could bring the font for the entire table down slightly, it might be easier to fit some of the longer series name in. Dont know how that would play with users who have their individual preferences set up differently than the norm, but if the reduction were not too drastic, it shouldn't be too bad for those users.

  1. Would be tricky - I can't separate the formats for the red (in this case) cells simply - rather than one format for the whole table, each cell would have to be given an individual style, which I was trying to avoid (thank grife for CSS3-supporting browsers! Even a couple of years ago, styling alternating rows without doing each row individually wasn't possible). Plus, I just tried it. Honestly, it didn't look good.
  2. Would it be easier if I made a template - i.e, {{aka|Triplicate Girl, Duplicate Girl}}? I actually intended the a.k.a.s to come out a bit smaller and bolded, like the Preboot » Pre-Crisis (etc) on the infoboxes or the revised disambig pages like Cosmic Boy/Invisible Kid/Lar Gand, anyway, but I ran out of time on the day and it didn't seem critical enough to delay posting.
  3. Is simple, since I did a "generic" versions at the same time - just use preboot_table rather than preboot_prec_table for the class at the top, which produces white header cell text (excluding links, of course) and alternating white & grey rows rather than white & pink - in case it was going to be one table (I was just going to bung any E247ers like Blok/Reboot - I now regard that JSA flashforward as an Earth-247 divergence since it was post-OWAW and also by Geoff Johns - in a separate table. The thought occurs that "Elements of Disaster" may not have happened on E247 as a result...).
  4. I'll try, but don't know that I want to trim it too far - maybe just a point or so...
I've made the formatting changes to the example table above (trimmed the font size a bit - see here for an animated GIF of the difference), switched to preboot_table, {{aka}}). Any thoughts?
PS: Unrelated, but since we're here... was Retroboot Aven's first name given? I was going to move Aven, but need to check if should be [[Micah Aven/Reboot]] or not. - Reboot (SoM) talk page 08:16, 23 November 2012 (MST)
Changes look good - thanks for the extra time and effort. I especially like the look of the trimmed font size. Looks cleaner to me somehow. I'll switch over to preboot_table and the aka template.
On the Retroboot Aven, I don't recall anyone calling him anything but Aven or Master Aven, but I'll look back through the issues. He didn't show up until the LSHv6 series, and with only 16 issues, most of which he didn't appear in, there wasn't much room for great background detail.
