Character biography
Jacques Foccart grew up in a typical nuclear family, with his father, mother - a chemist, his younger sister Danielle, and his best friend, Lyle Norg, who spent most of his time with the Foccarts while his own parents ignored him.
While Lyle proved a prodigy in chemistry, taught by Jacques' mother, Jacques couldn't stand the smells from the set - which meant that, when Lyle invented a serum which allowed the person who drank it to become invisible at will, Jacques passed on it.
The two shared a love of espionage from a young age, and often snooped around the nearby Earthgov building - where Jacques, as the non-invisible one, got most of the trouble. Still, when Lyle made an impression on President Chu, both were recruited into training for Black Hole, the main Earthgov spying organisation.
The two worked as a team when they "graduated," blowing up many of their targets, whether they were meant to or not, and Jacques would rescue Lyle "dozens of times".
Until Mara Grace, a fellow student who had developed her own serum, one that allowed her to mind control males, used Jacques in an attempt to steal Lyle's serum. When she made him drink it as a test, however, he screamed in pain, and was apparently killed from the severe allergic reaction.
In reality - while it was hidden from both Lyle and his family, who were given a fake Jacques for burial - he survived, albeit comatose for weeks. When he woke up, he was tested and it was found that - despite the huge strain it placed on him, including much pain - his invisibility was actually superior to Lyle's in that he was inaudible as well as invisible. The strain, however, meant he could only use it in a limited way.
"Dead", and kept that way because Black Hole held the medications he needed to stay alive, he continued to work for Black Hole. He spent time watching his "killer", now calling herself Charma, and anonymously tipped off Lyle, now the Legion's Invisible Kid, to her crimes. He was there when he captured her, albeit "blank", and didn't answer when Lyle asked him to show himself due to his obligations...
Powers and abilities
Jacques Foccart can become invisible at will, which also blanks out all sound he makes (including his heartbeat), unlike the effect the serum had on Lyle Norg. However, also unlike Norg, using his invisibility places a great strain on his system, and when he "goes blank", he is in constant pain and risks death from the strain. In addition, he requires regular medication to generally maintain his general health.
