Background
Venado Bay is the site of a decisive attack by Imskian forces during the Braal-Imsk War. By October 2991, the Braalian forces were gathered on Braal-13, the outermost inhabited world of the Braalian system. It was at the Venado Bay base where the Damper weapon was unleashed. The weapon, long in development, transmitted electromagnetic pulses that were uniquely encoded to invade Braalian bodies and disrupt their magnetic fields. A Braalian could be completely blown apart, lose one or more limbs, or experience permanent disruption or loss of magnetic powers, depending on the amount of exposure.
Some 5,000 Braalian soldiers were reportedly killed and 2,000 wounded in the three-minute attack, which allowed Imsk to establish a beachhead in the Imskian system. Within two years, the system was Imsk's.
Former Legion member Rokk Krinn was stationed at Venado Bay and lost his magnetic powers. His friend Loomis lost one of his arms. Terran Kent Shakespeare, who was a medic with the attachment, suffered no physical injuries from the attack. Former Legion member Salu Digby was also at Venado Bay, on the Imskian side. In the aftermath of the battle, Krinn unknowingly scarred Digby while defending himself within the enemy camp.
