Story Synopsis
TV listing
The team battles Mordru in downtown Metropolis; something happens when Booster Gold is in charge of crowd control.
Expanded synopsis
Booster Gold plays up his accomplishments to a crowd who doesn't know who he is (and doesn't care) - one child thinks he's Green Lantern. On the Watchtower, he asks the Martian Manhunter to put him on higher visibility cases so he can get more famous. Wonder Woman calls for some help - "the Dark Lord Mordru" is attacking, and J'onn J'onzz has never sensed such malevolent magic in one being before. If he can't be defeated, J'onn fears for every living being. Booster Gold looks forward to being on the case.
As the Justice League watches on monitors, Superman is helpless against Mordru's magic. Captain Atom and Green Lantern are recruited to help, and J'onn gathers the assembled Leaguers. After transporting down, the group is split up, with Batman leaving Booster on crowd control with Elongated Man. Both complain about not being used, and finally Wonder Woman appears and asks for Elongated Man's help. Booster is unenthusiastic about his assigned job. Debris falls nearby - it's Superman, merged with Batman, looking like the Composite Superman, who tells him to stay back. A child asks for Booster's help saving his "aunts" from a burning building, but they're only "ants". The boy thanks him as Green Lantern. He flies to help a nearby lab where an experimental black hole power source is now uncontained - and contained inside Daniel, one of the scientists.
Booster calls the Watchtower to get help from J'onn, but he's busy with Mordru, whose powers appear to be increasing. Booster and Tracy, one of the scientists, go to look for the man with the black hole, with a collar that should collapse the black hole. Flying debris from the fight against Mordru delays him, as does helping deliver a pregnant woman's baby. She thanks him as Green Lantern. He then flies off to look for Tracy.
Booster finds Tracy in trouble, about to be sucked into the black hole. He rescues her then goes into the subway after Daniel - who eats a train. Booster is slammed by another train before he can put the inhibitor collar on. He and Tracy find Daniel again but before he can put the collar on, a stray bolt from Mordru animates a nearby building, forcing Booster to fight it instead. Skeets is consumed by the black hole, as is the animated building. Tracy urges him to take the collar, but Booster admits he's a fraud, the only reason he came back in time was to get rich and famous, not to fight crime. She says that he's the only one who can do the job as nobody else is around. The black hole starts to suck in the surrounding buildings as well as Booster himself, but before he goes into the hole completely, he puts the collar on Daniel, shutting down the black hole. It then spits out everything, including buildings, debris, and Skeets. Tracy tells Booster it was very superheroic of him as he walks away, despite Skeets telling him that he missed the opportunity to kiss the girl. Meanwhile, the League has finally defeated Mordru thanks to Elongated Man. Batman tells Booster than Mordru's magic was nullified when he lost consciousness, but is upset that Booster didn't remain on crowd control (not knowing what else went on). Tracy shows up and jokingly calls him Green Lantern, then tells him that yes, she knows he's Booster Gold and wonders if he might like to go out sometime.
