Leveraging your story synopses
I'm happy to see that you are continuing to add the one-line story summaries on the Legion Publication History pages. The brief descriptions are a great way to pinpoint that elusive story one is trying to remember and are also really helpful to newer readers seeking to get a quick idea of the Legion's past adventures.
It occurred to me that these would also be useful on the individual issues pages. Ideally the individual pages should have a more detailed description of the story, but while we wait for all of that material to be produced, your brief descriptions are a great intro. When we do have the longer descriptions, I think it will still be useful to have the short description at the beginning, and to distinguish the brief version from the longer text, I have placed your summary in italics. Check out Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #237 for an example of what I'm talking about. If you like, you can augment the impact of your current work by adding any new additions to the individual pages as you produce them, and at some point we can go through and copy over all of your previous ones. If you would rather stick to just editing the LPH pages, that's fine too.
Thanks for your contributions, and keep up the great work! -- Gopher 03:07, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm guessing you want all discussions to remain visible, so I'll post back to you here. Thanks for the thumbs up. I'm happy to continue working on synopses, and your suggestion is a great one. Yes, I'm certainly interested, but I have a feeling I'll need to do one thing at a time, as I'm also indexing my own collection as I read through the canon. So my thoughts are that once I get through as many LPH synopses as I'm able, I can go back and help edit other pages.
- Incidentally, I'm not sure yet about all the codes in the wiki (including the date stamp), so I hope I'm not making too many mistakes! -- Catgirl 23:15, 13 December (EST)
- No pressure on the timing of including the synopses on the individual pages. Edit as you have time and on the parts that most interest you. I may copy some of them over myself from time to time - sometimes I do that type of thing when I only have a few minutes to work on the wiki and cant start something larger.
- As for discussions and wiki code - yes, its generally best to keep most conversations posted publicly if they involve discussion of proposed changes or if other users could benefit from reading them. Picking up the wiki code just takes time and the need to use a particular feature. For instance, you'll notice that I have added colons (:) to the beginning lines of some paragraphs above. This indents the paragraphs, with greater indentation for a greater number of colons. Using these in discussion threads helps to distinguish one response from another. You can add a signature to the end of your message by including either three tildes (~~~), which just signs your user name, or four tildes (~~~~) which signs your name and includes a time/date stamp.
