Biography
Atom'X was one of the first Amazers, and appeared to lead the Amazers during their first meeting with the Legion, over Star Boy's membership of the teams. He was next seen as part of the U.P. Taskforce which combated Mordru on JS-1967, and, as part of a game of oneupmanship with Radion, broke ranks; flying from one of the ships orbiting the planet to attack Mordru and the Emerald Eye. He lasted only seconds before Mordru transformed him into energy and apparently consumed him. Kid Quantum (Jazmin Cullen) was especially saddened by his death.
Some time later, however, after the Legion fought the Elements of Disaster on JS-1967 as part of their failed attempt to release Mordru, Dirk Morgna's altered vision led him to spot an energy pattern. It was discovered shortly afterwards that the energy was the remains of Atom'X and Blast-Off, who had suffered a similar fate, and, after they were found to be inseparable, they were combined to form the energy being who would become known as Wildfire
Powers and abilties
Atom'X could fly, phase through solid matter, and generate energy blasts.
Notes
- Atom'X, as first seen in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 #82, was intended to be Atmos, but after Lee Moder drew a completely different character from Atmos as seen in Legionnaires #0, Tom Peyer changed him to a new character at the scripting stage. [1]
- The name "Atom'X" is based on then-LSHv4 co-plotter and colourist Tom McCraw's screen-name (ATOMC), although McCraw was unaware of the new name for the would-have-been-Atmos character while colouring the issue. [2]
- Several flashbacks, including Legends of the Legion #4, accidentally misidentified Atom'X as Radion in dialogue.
