Tom Peyer, Tom McCraw and KC Carlson were the guest on AOL's LSH Chat for
April 11, 1995. Mark Waid put in a surprise guest appearance.
LSH Chat is hosted on America Online every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. EST in the
DC Comics Chat Room II (especially named LSH chat room for the occaision).
Previous guests have included Mark Waid, Tom Peyer, Tom McCraw, Jeff Moy,
and KC Carlson.

subject to misinterpretation. Or I could be making all this up. No
wagering without a valid license, please.
SPOILER ALERT - Non-spoiler material is presented first. Spoiler
information will be presented thereafter without the benefit of Spoiler
Space. You have been warned.
LSH #69 is shipping a week late. There were problems at the separators that
caused the delay. They're considering changing to a new separator.
The cover to LSH #69 is going to be *very* pink.
LSH Annual will also be shipping late, hopefully no later than a week.
Tom Peyer will be in AOL's DC auditorium on Thursday, April 13, 1995, at
10:00 p.m. EST discussing the Legion, R.E.B.E.L.S. and his upcoming New Gods
project.
Mark Waid declined the offer to write "Iron Man". However, he didn't
comment on the rumor that he was leaving the Legion titles despite repeated
questions.
Jeff Moy took off from pencilling L* #27 and #28 to pencil the L* annual.
Both Jeff Moy and Lee Moder have drawn new house advertisements for the
Legion books. The ads show all of the Legionnaires and are not specific to
any issue. Keep your eye out for them.
The joke of the week - They're considering powering up Arm-Falls-Off Boy
but, of course, that would make him AFO Lass. Mark Waid is pushing for this
character to show up in the first open tryouts.
Legion Archives volumes are on hold due to the expense of producing the
volumes. They're reluctant to produce them any more cheaply lest they lose
quality. They're also apparently reluctant to print the archives in
softcover format.
There's also no plans to print any digest-format reprints. KC remarked that
the format was too small for good presentation of super-hero stories.
Besides, they want to promote the new books right now.
There are apparently no plans to introduce Mary Marvel or Captain Marvel,
Jr., to the Legion. KC noted that they would be very old by the 30th century.
There is proof that Tom Peyer is a better person than I am. He showed
unbelievable restraint with a rude chatgoer who insisted that the LSH had
been rebooted to satisfy the creators' egos. Not once did Mr. Peyer become
rude, but calmly explained why DC had chosen to reboot the Legion--to no
avail, of course. The chatgoer continued to rant.
The ongoing call for LSH merchandise centered around a wish for flight rings
that work. (Apparently that request stops the DC merchandisers dead in
their tracks.) Thoughts were thrown about on pins, patches, posters, rain
ponchoes (this one isn't going to die), and glowing statues.
Tom Peyer likes Grimbor the Chainsman because the character is a pervert.
He has some ideas for Grimbor but they're in early enough stages that he
hasn't decided if he's also bringing in Charma.
The idea to make Andromeda a xenophobe came out of a story meeting. Tom
Peyer thinks it may have been him that suggested it first.
The sciences - Daxamites are good biochemists but not universal scientists.
The postboot Lyle is a universal scientist rather than just a biochemist.
An idea was discussed of having the Legionnaires attend a costume party in
their preboot costumes. Tom Peyer didn't think it was a silly idea.
There was some discussion of Phase in R.E.B.E.L.S. and whether to retcon her
yet again. Most wanted to keep her as Enya.
The creators are re-examining the Legion villains and trying to make them
reasonable adversaries for a team of 15 members or more.
There are no plans to represent Shadow Lass yet.
Similarly, Wildfire won't be coming to the books until the Legionnaires have
aged quite a bit.
We won't be seeing much of Tenzil before this fall, but he'll be yokkin' it
up soon according to Tom Peyer. (ED - I'm not sure that means that Tenzil
will be joining, though.)
Valor will appear in Superboy #17 (on sale next month). KC got to do his
rant about how the character was no longer "Mon-El".
Ultra Boy will be joining the Legion "soon enough" (Tom McCraw) and/or
"eventually" (Tom Peyer). He'll be a strong presence in the Legion books
before he becomes a member.
They intend to expand on Kenetix soon, but the story hasn't been written
yet. (ED - Zoe has her own story in the annual, so they must have meant
after that.)
The creators had something in mind for the SP officer that the Legion
encountered on the moon during the "Mano on the Moon" storyline, but the
ideas got put aside.
In response to a question about whether new members would be joining soon,
Tom McCraw asked "Is Jan coming into the books good enough for now?" McCraw
refused comment on whether Jan will join and what codename that he'll use.
Tom did hint that the name "Mystery Lad" might be better used for someone else.
They also noted that they may have plans for Roxxas.
There will be a lot of characterization of Brainiac 5 and Andromeda in LSH
#70. They come to an understanding about their relationship in that issue.
The creators wouldn't say if the characters kissed or not.
The Legion stories are roughly plotted for the next 6 months. The creative
team is currently working on plotting LSH #74 and L* #30. The adversary for
those issues is Superboy. McCraw remarked that his "new" attitude makes him
an adversary. We were also asked if we wanted to see Superboy as a member.
The Superboy is a 3 part story, followed by an Underworld crossover.
Underworld is DC's full-line crossover event--written by Mark Waid--which
will "power up" some of the DC villains. None of the Legion villains are
receiving the Underworld treatment, but the Legion will face jazzed up villains.
Lyle suffers an embarassing moment in L* #26. Tom McCraw agreed that Lyle
deserves more comeuppance. Lyle apparently likes to be into everything
which plays into his background. This was the explanation for his following
the Tangleweb mission team. Lyle will soon have his hands full in an
attempt to keep out of trouble. Tom has undertaken the personal mission to
make sure that Lyle doesn't resemble Wesley Crusher too closely.
Tom Peyer remarked that the following comment was eerily appropriate, "Garth
can't become Starfinger unless he loses his arm." Both Toms declined to
make further comments but when Mark Waid joined late one of his first
comments was that Arm-Falls-Off Boy will be appearing soon.
