Mike Grell
Mike Grell defined the Legion's look and feel in the mid-1970's, helming the covers and story art for about two years. For another two years he continued to create the Legion's cover artwork. Beginning with inks over Dave Cockrum's pencils in Superboy v1 #202, his tenure lasted 40 issues, including artwork for two tabloid-sized specials and covers for the first 8 issues of the Karate Kid solo series. He later returned for a guest spot in the 45th anniversary issue spotlight on Lightning Lad in Legion of Super-Heroes v3 #45.
Shortly after Grell took over the primary art duties for the book, a brief bio piece was included in Superboy v1 #205 as a way of introducing him to Legion fans. A year or so later, his continued popularity garnered an interview of several pages inThe Amazing World of DC Comics #12.
