Tom McCraw and KC Carlson were the guests on America Online's LSH Chat Hour for Tuesday, May 16, 1995. The LSH Chat Hour takes place every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. ET in the DC Comics Online Chat area. Previous guests have included Mark Waid, Tom Peyer, Tom McCraw, Jeff Moy and KC Carlson. DISCLAIMER - I wasn't even there, how can I guarantee any of this is true? SPOILERS - Yeah, there's spoilers. They're towards the end. There's no spoiler space, so stop reading if you don't like to be spoiled. SPECIAL THANKS to Edward Douglas for forwarding the chat log that made this report possible. Lee Moder is still working on LSH. He's working on LSH #74 right now. (He doesn't attend the AOL chats because he doesn't have a computer.) The titles seem to be back on schedule, and further fill-ins shouldn't be necessary. Tom was unaware of any urging by the DC PTB to cut ties between LSH and R.E.B.E.L.S. He further hadn't heard of any plans to cancel R.E.B.E.L.S. The Legion stories in Showcase '95 #6 were meant to stand alone, and that's why they didn't fit into the Legion continuity between any exact issues. (ED - They don't fit in at all. Mike McAvennie--who edited the Showcase stories and assists on the Legion titles--has a lot of 'splaining to do.) KC hesitantly decided that the Legion stories take place in 2995, but didn't want to adopt the rule of one year of real time equals one year of comic time. KC thought that only a few months had passed since LSH #0 Tom McCraw mentioned the possibility of a new Legion-related mini-series or two. There will always be changes in the Legion. Tom thought the core of members had always been fairly consistent. It will be awhile before we see Wildfire, Blok, Timberwolf or Dawnstar. Dev-Em won't be appearing until they figure him out. Once again, it was suggested that Mary Marvel should meet the Legion. Chris Duffy wants Mary in the Legion. The boxer on the last page of Superboy #17 was Superhero-formerly-known- as-Mon-El. The colors (which made several people comment that he looked like Magnus, Robot Fighter) were to establish him and weren't really Tom McCraw's choice. Lar Gand will not be using the Mon-El name in the reboot. They're using the name Valor because, in Tom McCraw's words, "He's a hero, so he's got to have a codename. Writing Comics rule #3.) For now, S.F.K.A.M-E. will only be appearing in LSH and Superboy, "but you never know." Tom hadn't heard anything about Insect Queen being in Superboy, and there are no plans for her in LSH. Both he and Tom Peyer like the name. There will be lots of time travel stories in the coming months. (ED - The S/LSH crossover and "Underword" with Chronos at a minimum.) The next origin story is "sort of" about Garth. It appears in L* #30. Tom wasn't prepared to discuss Reep's new role in Durlan religion because he wasn't quite sure himself. Tom Peyer is the mastermind behind the religious angle to the postboot Reep. Dr. Regulus will return. It will be a while before they reveal who Ayla's admirer is. Tom answered "maybe" to the admirer being either male or female. (ED - This may cast doubt on the Mekt theory since Mekt is appearing in L* #30.) Shvaugn Erin is slightly older than Jan (Element Lad/Alchemist) postboot. She may feel differently about him because of that. We'll see Dragonmage again. (ED - Why?) Tom and Tom Peyer want more members in Work Force, but noted that McCauley was too picky. McCauley will take more control over the team next time. (ED - Next appearance or next team? It wasn't clear.) It was suggested that Polar Boy join WF, but Tom preferred to see him in the Subs. Tom hinted that the new team might include a telepath to control the team, and noted the existence of Aven (Imra's mentor from L* #26). He also noted that Titanor (from the "All Hell Breaks Loose" story arc) wouldn't bother with someone like McCauley because it would be beneath him. Tom noted that he hadn't given much thought to Saturn Queen, and opined that she'd gotten too much use in the preboot v4. (ED - And let's not forget Universo--or even ESPer Lass. Okay, you can forget ESPer Lass.) Kenetix will be back. KC noted, "Oh boy, will she be back . . . ." He further noted that she's "not quite yet foe Zoe." Zoe Saugin is her full name, as stated in the LSH Annual. Zoe won't be the new Comet Queen. ( CQ's voice always got on Tom's nerves.) Tom noted there are no plans to make Zoe the new Emerald Empress, but that might change if enough fans demanded it. (ED - As far as I can recall, this is the most straightforward statement that we've received on the Zoe/Emerald Empress possibility.) There have been some discussions about bringing in Jacques Foccart. (No elaboration, but the querant specified bringing him in other than as Invisible Kid.)
