Five Year Gap

About this timeline

The third volume of Legion of Super-Heroes ceased publication with issue Legion of Super-Heroes v3 #63, with the conclusion of the Magic Wars. The fourth volume of Legion of Super-Heroes began with Legion of Super-Heroes v4 #1, set five years later. Although events during those five years were referenced and some key events shown in flashback, much of this time remains undocumented.

Based on 2995: The Legion of Super-Heroes Sourcebook, text pages in the comics themselves, and mentions in the comics stories themselves, this article attempts to list the events that occurred during these five years. This timeline uses the years used in the comics, with the events in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 #1 occurring in late 2994. Events occur after the timeline is changed due to the events in the Mordruverse.

2989

• June 23 - Magic Wars end.
• October - Economies of many United Planets worlds, including Earth, collapse.

2990

No leader elections held; Sensor Girl remains leader with a "vote of confidence" with Timber Wolf remaining deputy leader.

• January 9 - Laurel Gand resigns to fight Khundian invasion of U.P. space.
• February 26 - Saturn Girl resigns, due to Validus Plague on Winath.
• March 17 - Nightwind joins.
• April 12 - Chameleon Boy accepts chairmanship of Brande Industries, resigns from Legion.
• April 14 - Impulse (Kent Shakespeare) joins.
• June 7 - Legion Academy closes.
• July 6 - United Planets Militia Academy opens with former Legion Academy instructors Chuck Taine and Luornu Durgo-Taine in charge.
• July 24 - Earth secedes from the United Planets.

2991

No leader elections held because of possible bureaucratic resistance from increasingly hostile Earthgov. Sensor Girl is leader; Timber Wolf is deputy.

• February 10 - Atmos and Karate Kid (Myg) join.
• March 10 - Sensor Girl resigns and retakes her throne on Orando. Timber Wolf takes over as leader, although the move is not official because of red-tape.
• April 10 - Phantom Girl is apparently killed in a dimensional transport accident. However, she is instead sent through time to 2996. Her cousin, Enya Wazzo, is sent to the 20th century and joins L.E.G.I.O.N. (The accident is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 Annual #1.)
• April 19 - Atmos resigns.
• May 8 - Ultra Boy, still mourning the loss of Phantom Girl, resigns and returns to Rimbor.
• May 28 - Crystal Kid, Echo, and Reflecto join.
• June 12 - Shrinking Violet resigns to serve in the Imskian Army in the Braal-Imsk War.
• July 5 - Timber Wolf steps down as leader and Sun Boy unofficially takes his place. The so-called "Black Dawn" crisis begins.
• July 7 - Reflecto fights the Molecule Master and dies.
• August 12 - Doctor Regulus is thwarted in an attempt to destroy the Earth's sun. During the battle, Timber Wolf is exposed to radiation and is injured. Wildfire is believed killed. (This event is partially depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 52.)
• August 13 - Karate Kid (Myg) resists arrest and flees Earth.
• August 15 - Blok, Dawnstar, and Dream Girl resign. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 28.)
• August 17 - Crystal Kid resigns. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 28.)
• August 23 - Element Lad resigns and returns to Trom. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 28.)
• September 1 - Impulse (Kent Shakespeare) resists arrest and flees Earth.
• September 4 - Echo and Tellus resign. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 28.)
• September 12 - Lightning Lass resigns and returns to Winath.
• September 14 - Sun Boy resigns and appoints Polar Boy as unofficial temporary leader. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 28.)
• Septeber 24 - Fire Lad joins.
• October 8 - The Venado Bay attack occurs. Rokk Krinn (Cosmic Boy) loses his magnetic powers and Salu Digby (Shrinking Violet) loses an eye. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 20.)
• October 20 - Chlorophyll Kid, Infectious Lass, Porcupine Pete, and Visi-Lad join.
• November 27 - Color Kid and Stone Boy join.

2992

Earthgov restrictions prevents a leadership change, so Polar Boy remains unofficial leader. Officially, Sensor Girl and Timber Wolf remain leaders, although they have resigned.

• March 15 - Storm Boy joins.
• March 28 - Infectious Lass resigns, goes underground.
• April 9 - Chlorophyll Kid, Color Kid and Porcupine Pete resign, join underground.
• May 27 - Calamity King joins.
• June 30 - Invisible Kid (Jacques Foccart) resigns, goes underground to organize a resistance.
• July 6 - The Legion disbands. Many of the remaining members join the underground.
• August 22 - Polar Boy is arrested for trying to rally anti-Earthgov dissent. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 11.)
• August 28 - Mysa Nal marries Mordru.
• September 9 - Dirk Morgna joins Earthgov as a spokesman and liason. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 28.)

2993

No official Legion activities occur.

• March 24 - Jo Nah removes Furball (Timber Wolf) from Medicus One and brings him to Rimbor. (This event is depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 52.)

2994

• January 17 - Earthgov forces destroy Marzal, the interdimensional island that was the home of former Legionnaire Troy Stewart (Tyroc). Stewart survives the attack and joins the resistance.
• June 27 - Laurel Gand gives birth to daughter Lauren Gand. The father is her common-law husband Rond Vidar.
• August 14 - Rond Vidar travels to Tharn to try to rescue Mysa Nal from Mordru, but Vidar is captured.
• October 23 - Reep Daggle travels to Braal to speak to Rokk Krinn about reforming the Legion. Daggle gives the chairmanship of Brande Industries to Marla Latham. (These events are depicted in Legion of Super-Heroes v4 #1.)
