Green Lantern Corps/DCAU

The Green Lantern Corps is a group of interstellar law enforcement agents acting under the direction of the Guardians of the Universe. The Guardians were one of the first races to evolve following the creation of the universe. The Guardians and their agents have existed for billions of years and exist at least up through the 31st century.

This article is not a complete history of the Green Lantern Corps. Rather, it provides context for events in which the Legion or Legionnaires took part.

Green Lantern Corps

The self-styled Guardians of the Universe, on the planet Oa, set about creating an interstellar police force and using a "power battery" on Oa, they founded the Green Lantern Corps. Each member was responsible for a certain sector of space. Earth was in sector 2814.

Each of the Green Lanterns wears a power ring capable of generating emerald energy constructs. Some call the ring "the most powerful weapon in the universe" because it's only limited by the wearer's imagination and willpower.

Among those in the 21st century to wear a Green Lantern ring on Earth were Kyle Rayner and John Stewart, who was a member of the Justice League for several years.

The time period between the 21st and 31st centuries is not well documented, and the Green Lantern Corps activities in this time are unknown.

Green Lanterns in the 31st Century

For reasons which have not been revealed, the Green Lanterns are not typically present in United Planets space. In fact, it's rare to even see a Green Lantern in the galaxy. However, they are still well-known enough to be recognized.

A Green Lantern from the 21st century, John Stewart, who had been brought forward in time by Brainiac 5 and his Time Bubble, arrived with Supergirl and Green Arrow to help fight the Fatal Five. Green Lantern was recognized by the Emerald Empress, and was mind-controlled with the rest of the Legionnaires in a bid by the Fatal Five to destroy the capital of the United Planets. Green Lantern and the Legion were restored in time to defeat the Fatal Five. Upon completion of the task, Green Lantern and Green Arrow returned to the 21st century, leaving behind Supergirl who wanted to stay and join the Legion.
