Kurt Busiek stopped by the chat and stated that he reads the
Legion books and thinks they're terrific. He refused to discuss
his own work on Legion time. (ED - But I will--check out KURT
BUSIEK'S ASTRO CITY restarting in August from Homage Comics and
UNTOLD TALES OF SPIDER-MAN from Marvel.)

Jeff didn't think that Lee Moder was signed up as far as LSH
#100, but indicated that he and Cory Carani were signed up as far
as Lee was and more. Peyer thought his contract ran until LSH
#98. McCraw indicated that he was free to walk away at any time,
but wouldn't.

Jeff pointed out the Legion of Super-Heroes article in Wizard #59
which was a recap of the Legion stories since Zero Hour. The
article's author, Matt Brady, was present for a brief period and
encouraged fans who want to see more Legion coverage in WIZARD to
send their requests to "Wizwo...@aol.com".

Peyer denies the implication from WIZARD's "Hot Picks" that he
torments small animals. He only torments LSH fans. He conceded
that he would torment any small animals that became Legion fans,
but not if the fan was Streaky, the super-cat. He drew the line
at tormenting cats with heat vision.

Jeff accused Peyer of being evil, and Peyer responded with a
"Bah!"

The Legion will participate in DC's fall crossover event, IN
DARKEST NIGHT.

Peyer believes that another volume of the LSH Archives will be
released in 1997.

McCraw has been reading Legion stories since the late 1970's.

Neither Peyer nor McCraw were aware of any upcoming Green Lantern
team-up with the Legion.

Peyer doesn't think that Keith Giffen has any plans to write a
Legion story soon.

Peyer observed that Triad and Chuck Taine have their whole future
ahead of them, and that there was no rush for them to meet.

McCraw indicated that fans shouldn't look for Kent Shakespeare
any time soon.

Peyer thought that Chameleon's former accent was fun.

Jeff thinks that Saturn Girl's sister, Jancel Ardeen, has a lot
of potential.

Peyer admitted that Star Boy's additional powers needed to be
addressed.

McCraw doesn't foresee any romance between Leviathan and
Shrinking Violet, and points out that Vi is made at Leviathan
right now.

Peyer indicated that if they did have Universo plans, they'd keep
the plans secret.

McCraw doesn't think Dr. Gym'll would be the same if he was all
nice and cuddly. He indicates that Gym'll is vain enough to
think that Brainiac 5 will assist him, and vice versa.

Live Wire will still have an artificial arm unless something
happens. Peyer points out that Live Wire bleeds lightning, and
prosthetics can't handle that. McCraw thought that Gym'll would
work on cloning a new arm for Live Wire, but that it wouldn't be
an easy thing to do. Peyer indicated that Live Wire's insides
are too volatile to accept new tissue, even tissue from a
lightning person.

Peyer has been waiting for five years to spring the Uncanny
Amazers on fans. He indicates that LSH #82 was just a teaser for
the Amazers and that they would appear soon in L*. Jeff was
pleased that he got to draw Insect Queen.

McCraw polled fans as to whether they'd like to have Kid Quantum
II join the Legion.

McCraw indicates that Kid Quantum II's name is not Danielle.

McCraw noted that Konk looked similar to Triad because of the
hair color, but that Triad's was her natural color. Peyer named
Konk, and McCraw thought there was another name for the character
initially. Peyer indicates that he's never seen the Beyondo skit
on Jay Leno.

According to Peyer, the similarity between Atom'x's codename and
Tom McCraw's AOL screen name is not a coincidence. Peyer
switched the name without McCraw's knowledge. McCraw claims that
pink isn't really his color. He jokingly vowed revenge against
Peyer.

McCraw indicates that the mystery of Atmos' absence in LSH #82
will be explained later. He joked that Atmos called in sick that
day.

Peyer stated that we'll be meeting the bald, bicycle-panted
Amazer soon. He actually does have a name and powers. He also
opined that it was just like the Legion to have a bald guy in
swim trunks in the background doing nothing.

McCraw observed that both Kid Quantums projected stasis fields.
Gates was affected by Kid Quantum because he got into the area
that she was projecting in. Peyer quips that Gates was affected
because Kid Quantum uses a Sears Craftsman brand stasis field,
the toughest known.

Apparition's return was planned from the beginning. Peyer
indicated that we still haven't seen all of the plans for her.

Jeff doesn't recall if Apparition is in L* #39.

Peyer indicated that Ultra Boy and Ambassador Wazzo can see
Apparition because they love her the most. There will be further
developments in whether Apparition can be seen.

Peyer doesn't think that the Ultra Boy and Apparition romance
needs to be handled similarly to the Wildfire and Dawnstar
relationship.

McCraw pointed out that Lee modified Apparition's costume. He
notes that the costume still had a stripe rather than a cutout.

Apparition will be going to the 20th century with Ultra Boy,
Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, Spark and Gates. That
completes the list of 20th century Legionnaires.

Two non-members will also be going to the 20th century. One of
the non-members has super-powers and the other doesn't. Peyer
claims distress that they didn't think to include Konk among the
non-members.

McCraw indicates that Apparition won't become depressed upon
seeing the skeletal Deadman unless she becomes a skeletal
Apparition.

McCraw predicts that Gates will fit into the 20th century as well
as Gates fits in anywhere.

Jeff wasn't aware that any Legionnaires would remain in the 20th
century after the upcoming storyline continues.

Peyer thinks the 20th century story arc is a good idea, and that
now was a good time to do it because there were two books--one of
which would remain set in the 30th century. The Toms both chose
which Legionnaires would travel to the 20th century.

Peyer refused to say when the 20th century story would end
because it would ruin the suspense.

McCraw indicated that Damage would "maybe" show up in the Legion.

The Phase backstory will be addressed while the Legion is in the
20th century.

In the LSH Annual, we'll see why Dirk Morgna can't adopt the
"Wildfire" codename. McCraw asked why the Sun Boy name shouldn't
be used.

Peyer indicates that we'll see The Empress again.

Jeff confirmed that the event in LSH #83 will be "bad . . . very
bad." He hinted that it had something to do with the Emerald
Eye.
