Pre-Crisis
The Wanderers were first mentioned in Adventure Comics 375. Established as an independent team of superheroes that exists in the Legion of Super-Heroes timeline, nonetheless they find themselves in conflict with the Legion.
They later made a cameo at the wedding of Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel in Superboy v1 200. The team made its third appearance in yet another cameo, helping out during the thick of the Great Darkness Saga's crisis, specifically in Legion of Super-Heroes v2 294.
Post-Crisis
The Wanderers survived the Crisis on Infinite Earths without discernible changes or losses, only to end up dead not long after. In 1988 they earned their own self-named series, which began with a renegate Controller finding the whole team killed, cloning six of them (the seventh and last cloning attempt failed) and changing their powers and names somewhat during the process.
The first (and so far only) Wanderers Series lasted thirteen issues.
