Of Pride, Passion and Piracy!
Synopsis
The Legion resolves to go after the space pirates that they had recently encountered. As the pirates are loading booty onto their ship, a slave tries to escape. As one of the pirates tries to kill him, Ultra Boy, who has amnesia and has joined their band, intercedes, and orders the shooter to never aim to kill again, an order that Captain Frake, the pirates' leader, doesn't completely agree with. On Earth, as they watch the Legion leave in pursuit of the pirates, Timber Wolf tells Light Lass of his desire to be free of social contact with others, and Colossal Boy discusses with others his opinion of his mother since she became president of Earth.
On New Tartuga, home of the space pirates, Ultra Boy sees how his new comrades behave and determines that he is not like them. Captain Frake tries to draw him close, but he pulls away, haunted by the memory of Phantom Girl, who he had encountered and somewhat remembered recently. As the two of them discuss this, the Legion attacks their base, and the two of them head for a super-weapon that would defend their base and destroy the Legion. Ultra Boy is horrified at how casually Captain Frake brushes aside a woman, killing her, and he decides to begin fighting against the pirates, a fact that Saturn Girl, in the Legion cruiser, senses and is overjoyed about.
Captain Frake gets to the super-weapon and aims it at the Legion cruiser. Ultra Boy, seeing what she's about to do, places himself in front of her blaster and saves the Legion, causing the blast to ricochet and kill the pirates, and causing him to disappear. Saturn Girl, no longer sensing his presence, weeps and tells Lightning Lad what she had sensed, and guesses that it must have been her imagination the whole time, and that Ultra Boy had been dead after all.
